week 4; that's not how you use a sword

[the truth of the matter is after the last few days... noctis isn't feeling that much better.

sure, he's calmer than he was over the weekend. and sure, his hand isn't looking nearly as scraped up as it had after saturday night (though it's still bruised and a bit swollen, it's nothing noct can't handle). but even still, spending time at the watering hole didn't completely help him to ease up like it normally would.

maybe he just has some aggression he needs to let out.

and there's really very few people around noct thinks he can go to when it comes to something like wanting to spar or use... any weapon in a bit of a non-deadly fashion. so it's sara he seeks out once he's really up and about for the day.]

Hey. [he'll call for her attention casually enough when he spots her, so it's pretty unassuming.] You, uh... busy, right now?

Among other things, yeah.

[which is probably questionable to say in a place like this, but everyone would probably know it if they weren't power-nerfed anyway. he never kept that much a secret.

he did also mention his proficiency with firearms during a trial. so. there's that...]

And you're not from some sort of combat academy? [ Although every student tended to have one specialty. ]

Nope. I was trained in a bunch of things, but it wasn't at a school or anything.

[though.] Some stuff I kind of just learned as I went, I guess. [like heavy machinery, but he doesn't get into the specifics on that one.]

... Huh. Well, it's true you learn all kinds of things outside of a school environment.

Didn't really learn much in school but the normal school stuff anyway.

[he was trained! but if sara doesn't ask, he's not going to offer it up freely because he's still a bit cagey about telling people he's a combat-trained prince.]

Well, that's about what you'd expect. I'm just sorry we don't have a spare sword lying around so we could really get some exercise in.

A spare anything would've been nice. Not really into using the pistol if I don't have do. Not... really all that great for sparring, anyway.

Not the best, but you can actually use it to block pretty effectively.

I... don't think that'd really be my strong suit. Firearms really aren't anyway.

I mean if you want to spar, I can probably do it with just that. At least for blocking.

[ A pause; it'd be easier if they both had swords, but... ]

Although my legs against my own sword might be a little unfair.

Still seems like an uneven match.

[and he gets her reasoning, there are definitely specific weapons of his that he'd feel real weird about having used against him, even in just a spar.]

I guess there's not much we can do about it, though. It's probably better if there are less weapons around here anyway.

[even if he sure feels pretty defenseless like this. it's fine.]
