elemancy | week two; post-investigation noodles

[He'd been lying on his back on his bed, hands covering his eyes and thoughts aimlessly drifting. Noctis is a very welcome distraction and when he hears him through the door he gets up to open the door. He stares for a moment, looking at the noodles before he grins and steps aside to let him in.]

Didn't know the hotel came with room service. [It's only when Noctis is in the room that he shuts the door, too.] Nice timing.

What can I say? I'm a pretty generous guy when I want to be.

[he's not just going to have lunch on his own when they have stuff to talk about anyway. once in the room, he'll hand over one of the cups to percy before sitting down and peeking in his to see if the noodles are ready.

(they are, thankfully.)]

[He'll take the cup of noodles, nodding in response.]

Thanks, man. [He'll take his noodles and have a seat opposite of Noctis, swirling the liquid around a little to soften up his noodles. This is the kind of fine dining he can get used to.] I'm still not even sure how these showed up, but I'm not complaining. At least we're not going to starve here.

[noct's ready to dig in... so he will.]

Probably the only thing that would make it worse being stuck here, huh. [also starving. the food options aren't terrible, but noct not... being all that interested in trying to cook definitely limits his options sometimes.]

It makes about as much sense as anything else. ...Since it doesn't make much at all. At least we got 'em, makes a good lunch. Probably miss it if it wasn't here.

[he's not gladio, but he still appreciates a good cup noodles.]

[He follows suit because food is food. And because he trusts Noctis...]

Yeah, kind of the reason I asked for pizza and sodas to be stocked up. Didn't think he'd actually listen to me, but it's nice to have 'em. Makes things a little less miserable. [Not better, but less miserable. He brings some of the noodles into his mouth and chews on them for a moment before he speaks up again.]

I'm kind of glad we've got a day between everything from this morning and when we have to go back to town hall. I don't know if I'm ready for 38 other people. [That is to say he's fine with just Noctis right now. Sometimes protags just want to be by themselves okay.]

So that's where it came from. Niiiiiice.

[listen, only a fool wouldn't appreciate pizza and soda. he's pretty surprised the sheriff would give them that much. kind of seems like a last meal clause, but.

whatever, it's fine. he'll slurp up some noodles and give a nod of his own.]

No kidding. Not really interesting in more people dying, but being stuck in a room with that many people all day? Exhausting. And really, really not my thing.

[being in a room with that many people without any crownsguard? eesh.]

[There's a proud smile. He is definitely happy with his life choices, thank you. He's surprised, actually, since he didn't think the Sheriff would comply but it works out.]

Not really my idea of a fun time. The last time I was in one place that crowded with strangers I ended up only having a square on the floor, and I had to worry about people jacking my stuff. [Thanks, Hermes cabin.] I'm hiding while I can if you really want to know. I'll be back out there in a few hours but. [He shakes his head.] We're back to way too many things not making sense.

Not arguing there. Guess neither one of us wants to be in the middle of a crowd all the time.

[especially, since... you know:] Especially when people in that crowd probably want us dead. I think I'm good on having a target on my back.

[There's a quiet laugh.] You, too? It's kind of my specialty back where I'm from.

[But there's noodles so he's focused on those.] This whole thing is kind of normal for me. At least it's more organized than "Percy Jackson, your blood is to be spilled on this earth!" and everything that comes with it.

[noct snorts a little at that. boy, can he relate!]

What, you mean you don't have a whole military with the scopes on you? [he says it jokingly but!

[this is absolutely not something either of them should be joking about. especially... considering how much noct has lost because of it.]

Probably. Can't say it's not refreshing to be able to walk ten feet under an open sky without an airship descending on me, though.

[it's sad. it's really sad, but with the shitshow life has been for him back home, this somehow is a little bit less of a shitshow in some sick, twisted way.]

[There's a sage nod.] Gets a little tiring sometimes, doesn't it? People looking at you and thinking you know exactly what you're doing and believing you aren't affected by a lot of the stuff going on around you. I think I kind of get it.

[There's a huff around his fork.] This kind of supports my thing about the Sheriff dragging us here when we're really important back in our worlds, too.

Seems like it's a pretty safe bet. Other people seem to be under that impression too.

[but you know, more importantly:] So you gonna tell me some of your story, or am I the only one doing show and tell here?

[A laugh.] Noctis, I don't even know if you'd believe me if I told you the half of it. You're sure you want to know that kind of information?
